Whatever may be the reason for your stay, we thought about everything that could turn it into the most pleasant possible. The experience Baylon is not limited to the interior of the apartment but it rather extends to the city and its offers in terms of food and culture.
We like to pamper our guests already in the morning with a healthy and genuine breakfast, prepared with fresh products and homemade pastries you can enjoy either with an Espresso or a coffee from the Moka which is at the guests’ disposal. Upon request it is possible to try a selection of salami which is freshly sliced with the historic slicing machine Berkel which is exhibited in the breakfast room.
Gatto Rosso is the family restaurant, which has been founded by Agostino and Pietrina in 1952, who could neither be stopped by the distance (he was from Tuscany, she was from Apulia), nor by the war. When the war came to an end, the two of them started a catering service simply known as “la cantina”. After more than 50 years, Gatto Rosso still recalls the history and continues to make history because the vocation for pursuing this profession lies within the family’s blood.
Taranto is a fascinating city which was founded in 706 B.C. by Spartan settlers. In fact it is two cities in one: the old city, a tangle of small streets and medieval alleys, which is located on a small island and the other, more recent city which is anchored to the mainland. The bridge that connects the two parts of the city is called Ponte Girevole and is considered to be the symbol of Taranto, which separates the Mar Grande from the Mar Piccolo. With regard to the city’s two souls, Baylon is located in a central position within walking distance to the theater Orfeo, the Marta (National Museum of Archeology) and to all the spots which are of tourists’ interest, such as the Castello Aragonese, the old city, the waterfront and the shopping streets.
